Backnooks breast cancer awareness
[00:00:00] Hi, it's Shiva Gorani, OB G Y N, who's excited to partner with the Prevent Cancer Foundation, who are the only US-based nonprofit that is totally dedicated to preventing cancer or finding it early. It's so important, especially now, October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They did a survey in August of 2021 of 2003 women or people assigned female at birth in the midst of the pandemic, where over 90% of us were already getting back to work and socializing, and they.
That 52% of us had not gone to see our doctors, that a full 42% of women did not know what their screening interval needed to be for breast cancer, and 28% had not scheduled any breast cancer screening. Ladies, this is really important. We need you to help us as doctors. We need to find and fix things early so we can decrease the fear and increase survivability.
That means not waiting until you have symptoms, not waiting until you feel a lump, but getting your screening mammogram done. And that means talk to your doctor to find. When you need to do it, most of 'em will start at 35 or 40 as their baseline. Please spread [00:01:00] the word and get it.
