No period after baby!
[00:00:00] Okay, so what happens to your period after you've had a baby? Well, if you're exclusively nursing, you may have what's called lactational amenorrhea, lactation meaning breast milk. Amenorrhea meaning no period because your prolactin hormone from your pituitary plan is suppressing ovulation, so you don't get a period.
Now, that's typically when you are exclusively breastfeeding as opposed to either pumping or giving formula, but that's not always true. Sometimes you're exclusively nursing, and we still get your. Sometimes you have stopped nursing altogether and you don't get your period for a couple months because your hormones haven't yet come back where you ovulate a negative.
Please remember, you cannot rely on Lactational amenorrhea as a form of birth control because it's not always a hundred percent effective, and you can't rely on a lack of period as a sign that you're not pregnant because again, you ovulate first and then you get a period so you wouldn't even know if you get pregnant.
The other thing to know is that when you are not getting your period, because you're not ovulating, your mood, your libido, and certainly your vagina will feel different, so you might not [00:01:00] feel like having sex.
