Yeast and Bv!

[00:00:00] Let's talk about yeast versus bv. I have to talk fast. So yeast infections typically be chunky, white discharge with itching like we used to joke in college. Lock me in a dark room with a hairbrush that is typical yeast infection, itching, and it often occurs in the setting of things like, I took antibiotics for an ear infection and the antibiotics killed not only the bacteria here, but the bacteria in my vagina.

Your vagina wants to live with harmony. The flora in your vagina, the yeast and the bacteria wanna live together. You don't wanna throw off that balance. What else can get thrown off when you throw off the balance? You all of a sudden will find out that you have watery discharge with a fishy odor, and that is what we call bv bacterial vaginosis.

They're different yeast, BV yeast, chunky white discharge itchy BB is typically clear discharge and fishy odor. They can occur together, they can be triggered by each other, but they're separate entities. And BV is treated with either vaginal antibiotics or oral antibiotics or. Something called boric acid.

If you have recurrent bv, neither should be worrisome, but both should be treated. So see your gynecologist.
