Ovarian cancer: quizzes answered!
[00:00:00] It's ovarian Cancer awareness month. Last week I put up a quiz. We're gonna talk about the four questions I put up on the quiz. Question number one, why do I hate the term silent killer? Because ovarian cancer is not silent. It is subtle, and we are gonna learn the signum symptoms this week. Number two, is there a screening test for ovarian cancer?
The answer is no, and it's frankly not because everyone ignores it as much as the fact that those ovaries are sneaky. They're deep inside, and they're not easy to get to. So we're gonna learn about screening tests this week too. Number three, how do we find ovarian cancer? At what stage? Two thirds of ovarian cancer are found at stage three and four, which makes it much harder to treat?
If we can find more at stage one or two, which we can, even though it's subtle and there's no screening test, then we will have more people surviving for longer periods of time. And finally, number four, what stage was my ovarian cancer found at? It was actually found at stage two, and there's two reasons for that.
One is that mine was from my endometriosis, which made it a little bit less subtle. And number two is I know the signs and symptoms and I am like a dog with a bone. If you've ever been my patient, I will send you for every test in the book [00:01:00] because I want us to make sure that even though when you have a symptom, it is likely nothing.
I want us to find it if it is something, so we can catch it early and fix it. So this week we're gonna be talking about it a lot.
